Hi, I'm Ethan, head of technical support at Opentrons. This video is the second in a series of videos from unboxing to protocol operation. In this video, let us help you unlock OT-2. In this video, let's start unlocking the OT-2, I need a 3mm hex screwdriver and a 2mm hex screwdriver, the top window panel screws and the top window panel and side panels, to prevent damage during transportation, the moving parts of the OT-2 are used 3 locking brackets lock into place. Before opening the OT-2 for the first time I need to remove the brackets, if I try to open the OT-2 without these brackets removed the device will not work properly, the first bracket is held in place by 4 screws, the second of which Located behind the pipette holder, these screws are accessible through the front door. I'm going to use 3mm hex screws to remove these and put away the nuts that have fallen off the brackets. If the nuts don't fall out I can remove them with a hex screwdriver and I will remove the other 2 screws behind the second bracket, the next bracket is held in place by 3 screws and is above the pipette holder.
In order to remove this bracket and access the 3rd screw, I will first remove the 2 screws that attach to the pipette holder. I am going to temporarily move the pipette holder to the other side of the OT-2. I The 3rd screw will be removed from the y rail, now that the bracket is out of the way the 2 screws that lock the bracket are accessible, I will remove these 2 screws from the frame and the bracket, the last one locks The stand is the smallest and is located on the left side of the robot! Between the X and Across from the trash chute where the Y rails meet, I will now install the top window and side panels once this third and final bracket is removed. To install the top window on the OT-2 I will need the 2.5mm hex screwdriver, the window panel we put aside when we unboxed the OT-2, and the top window screws from the accessory box, I will now slide the window on the top of the OT-2, We need to take the screws out of the bag and make sure they have washers on them. Then screw 4 screws into the holes of the OT-2 with magnets on the side panel and snap onto the pre-installed screws to hold the side window in place. Our video about unlocking OT-2 ends here. Thanks for watching the second installment of our video series from unboxing to protocol operation. Now that OT-2 has been unlocked, I can do some interesting sessions. In the next video, I'll walk you through installing the app and connecting the Opentrons pipette.
